Video Portfolio
Here are a selection of video projects which I have created during my time studying Film and Television Production at Blackpool Sixth Form College. Some of these were for college assignments, whilst others were external clients I took on separately from my college commitments.
Promotional Video: Wooden Spoon
This was the first unit on my course which gave me the opportunity to take on an external client. The client I worked with was Wooden Spoon, who are a charity that supports disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK.
I was only given five weeks to plan, film, edit, gain client feedback and make any required changes, so this project developed my ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure.
The staff at the charity were very pleased with the finished video, and they felt that it clearly demonstrated the impact that their work has had on disabled and disadvantaged children.
Fiction Film: Disney Horror Trailer
For this unit, I was tasked with reworking a classic Disney story into a horror narrative which would be engaging and impactful for a modern audience.
I decided to incorporate violence against women and mistrust in the police into my narrative as these are topical issues in society which rightly concern many people. By creatively incorporating these current issues into my Disney rework, I was able to create a trailer which resonates with a modern audience.
Promotional Video: Women Rockin' Harmony Choir
This was an external project which I took on separately from my college commitments.
I was given a list of requirements by the client including the atmosphere they wanted to create and the length they wanted it to run for. I attended their rehearsal to capture the footage, which I had to do without interrupting or being intrusive. Once filming was complete, I had to source appropriate royalty-free music to create the mood requested by the client.
The choir directors were very happy with the finished video, and saw a significant increase in membership after sharing it across their social media platforms.
Stop Motion Animation: Climate Change Informational Video
For this unit, I had to create an animation that would raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage viewers to take action.
I designed the characters and set, and manipulated them to create the illusion of movement. Through the completion of this unit, I developed a number of important skills including resourcefulness and attention to detail.
Multi-Camera Production: Climbing Competition
For multi-camera production, I was tasked with filming a live music event or a live sporting event. Me and my team had to plan what equipment would be required and where it would need to be placed in order to capture sufficient coverage of the event and make it easy for the audience to follow.
As well as developing my organisation, planning and team work skills, I also learned a number of new functions and effects in Adobe Premiere Pro.
